We all want the best learning opportunities for our children at school and at home.

At St Teresa’s School, we use HERO and our fortnightly newsletters to share what your tamariki are learning and the ways you can support this learning at home. Recently, as part of our Health and PE survey, we asked our school whānau for their thoughts about traditional home learning practices. The majority of families who responded shared that completing formal home learning can sometimes add stress to already busy family schedules, and they valued a more whānau-focused approach to learning outside of school hours.

We believe that learning happens in many different ways and that meaningful experiences at home can play an important role in developing confident, capable, and curious learners. For many children, time spent reading together, talking, playing, creating, helping at home, and exploring interests can be just as valuable as completing traditional homework tasks.
