St Teresa’s School – Featherston
Full-time, Permanent
NE/Year 1 Classroom Teacher
St Teresa’s is a Catholic school with a big heart, educating learners from Years 1–8 in the Wairarapa. Guided by our vision of developing confident lifelong learners who embrace Catholic faith, and shaped by our values of Faith, Justice, Love and Humility, we are a community where tamariki are known, valued, and supported to thrive.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and fun, experienced classroom teacher to join our dedicated team as the New Entrant/Year 1 classroom teacher, from Term 4, 2026 (start date negotiable).
This is a non-tagged, scale A, position so the successful applicant will be expected to recognise and respect the school’s Catholic special character and be actively involved in the total life of the school, in a manner which respects the religious instruction given and religious observances practices within the school.
Strong classroom practice that engages and challenges all learners.
An enthusiastic and collaborative approach, with the ability to bring energy and joy to learning.
Relational strengths – building positive, respectful partnerships with students, staff, and whānau.
Confidence in literacy and mathematics teaching, and the ability to integrate inquiry and creativity across the curriculum.
A reflective mindset and willingness to grow professionally as we embrace curriculum changes.
Commitment to weaving te ao Māori and tikanga Māori into classroom life.
A welcoming school community that lives its values of Faith, Love, Humility, and Justice.
A supportive staff team who value collaboration, positivity, and care.
Opportunities for professional development in both teaching and Catholic education.
If you are ready to make a meaningful difference to great students in a positive Catholic community we would like to hear from you.
Closing: 12pm on Monday 27th July
